For a specific application, how do I choose which powder group to use?
To begin with, you must identify the general constraints of your application:
- Application temperature
- Local environment (chemicals, humidity, etc.)
- Maximum local demagnetizing field
- Available space for the magnet
- Magnetic field (or strength) needed from the magnet
What powder grades are best for high temperature applications?
Rare earth containing magnetic materials are challenged by elevated temperature applications, say >125oC. MQP-14-12 powder grade has been designed to overcome these difficulties, and its magnets can exhibit <5% flux loss at temperatures up to 200oC.
